Hola, how is everyone? Well? Good. Anyway, after some discussion with other mods we decided to make a thread series on the various functions on VGChartz! Why? Because a lot of people need help with this (and other functions) and are usually too lazy to ask. Let's-a-go!

So, multiquote, what is it, and why would I use it?

Well one example I can give is; let's say you make a thread and want to reply to everyone but don't want to A. spam the thread with 5 or so comments at once or B. want to save time by only making one large reply.

How do I do it?

It's simple! On the bottom right-hand corner of each person who posts a comment you'll see a list of (probably familiar) options: Reply, Quote, Multi-Quote, etc. But it should be your third (or if you're a mod) fourth option. Once you click the Multi-Quote option you will see a message pop-up saying, "Post added to quote list." -after that the option will disappear for that post. Rinse and repeat and when you've taken enough quotes you can now make a comment with the group of selected quotes. Make sure you use the Rich Text Reply option. If you do Quick Reply, you cannot multiquote.

Will everyone get notified by the blue marker if I multiquote?

Yes, everyone will get the blue reply mark, ensuring that everyone knows they were replied to by you.

Here's a few examples for multiquote:

Anyway, I hope this and future threads might be helpful for new users or users whom have yet to use the function!

Some issues do occur with Multiquote as some users have pointed out. Here's how Zkuq explained it:

"Well, if you click multi-quote on multiple posts, then decide you don't want to quote both of them after all, it's not enough to go to rich text reply and erase the unwanted quotation because it'll still trigger the blue icon. You need to click the multi-quote button again before going to the rich text reply mode to actually remove the unwanted quote and prevent triggering the blue icon. It's not a hard thing after all, but it took me a while to find how to remove the unwanted quotation and at first glance, you'd think erasing the quotation from the post would be enough to prevent triggering the blue icon."
