We only saw one mode when they unveiled Splatoon as well. The developers have already announced there will be more modes. It's not like Splatoon had many of them to begin with anyway.
At least this game has split-screen multiplayer. :) And the attention to detail with regards to the characters is amazing, I wish Splatoon put that much care in their character models.
