PC is my main gaming system, because of the flexibility (KB/Mouse, Controller, wheel, VR, you name it), backwards compatibility which will remain for the forseeable future and easy library management with Steam. Had Xbox360, sold it after 3 months. Ain't interested in PS4 or Xbone. Still have Wii. Still have DS.
Switch is basically first console I've preordered, and the first one I'll be buying at full price.
So no, from my experience, making a "traditional" console would be the worst approach for nintedno. I can easily play my PC as a traditional console.
