They tried that with the gamecube.. Look how that turned out. Yeah the controller and console were funky looking but from a practical standpoint it was a traditional console.
I don't see why many seem to think Its be wise for Nintendo to enter the already crowded red ocean that Sony and MS occupy and severely outrun Nintendo in horsepower and deep pockets.
Nintendo thrives best when they go their own way (NES, Wii, DS), not too mention it's a much smarter business move.
Besides.. Don't people WANT a console that's a little different, w/different types of games? Rather than having all three the more or less the same catering to the same markets?
