PS1:

  • Final Fantasy IX - The best game ever made as far as I'm concerned, so obviously it's the best game on the platform as well. Great story, characters, music and world.
  • Honorable mentions: The Legend of Dragoon, Tekken 3, Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Grandia
PS2:
  • Shadow of the Colossus - Much more difficult pick, as there are so many great games on the PS2 that I consider more or less equals.
  • Honorable mentions: Final Fantasy X and XII, Metal Gear Solid 3, Kingdom Hearts 2, Okami, Dragon Quest VIII, Persona 4
PSP:
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - I haven't actually played that many games on PSP. Handheld gaming just never appealed to me that much, even if did go out and get the system anyway. Then I mostly just played rereleases of older games like Breath of Fire III. Of the game I have played, Crisis Core is probably the best.
  • Honorable mentions Valkyria Chronicles 2
PS3:
  • Dark Souls - My favourite game of the generation overall. Everything about the game is just flawless. Dark Souls is a game that doesn't lower its standards for players, but expects you to measure up to the bar that it sets.
  • Honorable mentions: Valkyria Chronicles, Dark Souls II, Uncharter 2 and 3, The Last of Us, Ni No kuni
PS4:
  • Really early to say at this point, but at the moment Bloodborne is probably the best. Uncharted 4 and Final Fantasy XV are also very good.
