This. I feel he's really grasping here. If we were talking about the DS library...maybe he would be correct as stuff like cooking mama and brain age were real popular, but nobody cares about them anymore, they sold like crap on 3ds compared to the last gen. If we look at the games released on 3ds versus the Wii U they are not that different. Hell lot of the games been put out have been ports of home console titles. These "short burst" games are relegated to indies and even then are available for most systems |
Why is every battle in Fire emblem a "chapter", why is monster hunter divided into missions? Why is pokemon divided into Gyms or small areas?
See, the total duration of the game is besides the point. The point is that the games are designed so you can pick them up and make some progress and be able to pick them up again at any time. Also, these short bursts aren't as precise as 5-15 minutes. It can be half an hour, it can be an hour. The defining factor is that they are designed in a way where you can drop and pick them up at any time, wether you play 5-15m or 30-60m.
But, i can see that there is a big unwillingness in understand things that are plain as day and distorting into completely different things.
So, i am not gonna bother anymore. You have your opinion and i have mine.
