This guy gets it! It's why I highly doubt we'll see this Switch mini many have been talking about unless Nintendo forces it by compromising the controls.

I think the controls are already compromised to reach the size they are. The layout looks uncomfortable for many games, there are no analogue triggers. I don't see any problem carry on with the horribly compromised layout to a smaller form factor in fact I could see a new switch compatible portable having much improved controls perhaps with analogue triggers finally brought back.

No lie, when I first used the triggers on the wii u gamepad I thought they were faulty because they had little movement. I just assumed they would be analogue not cheap and nasty on/off switches. Need for Speed Most Wanted was a good port on the wii u but always prefered the ps3 version because of the better controls. Nintendo just can't seem to get the basics right nowadays.

True, all the inputs are already smaller than normal, no proper D-pad, and the sticks aren't offset, but they'd probably have to be compromised further in order to fit in your pocket, like going back to circle pads and even smaller inputs.

As for analogue triggers, the lack of has nothing to do with the Switch's size. Nintendo had them with the Gamecube, but haven't since, I'm guessing because they don't feel the need for them, not for their games anyway.
