This just sets up Nintendo's internal teams to utilize what they've learned with Unreal and Unity and effectively develop games whether in house games or helping with third parties or indies. That way, they don't just have the knowledge of their own engines. Versatility will be key in creating content efficiently. They have more options to operate. It's doesn't sound like a bad thing. This can help save costs and time in development.

How will helping third parties port their games help with Nintendos development time?

What I'm saying is that the internal teams now have more knowledge with certain engines so they develop games or help third parties and indies port games more efficiently. I didn't mean that help porting saves Nintendo with development time.
