I don't know, since they already use the SL/SR buttons for docking, all you'd need is a device that is wide enough to accomodate the said buttons.

But not the full length of the Joy Cons leaving their ends hanging off? That'd probably make the system awkward to grip and the Joy Cons easier to accidentally break off, oh and it'd look pretty ugly lel.
