Investors care about both, revenue means that people are interested in the product, profits are the company's end meaning they need to make changes to cut the costs involved.
An investor would want to invest more in a couple with growing revenues and a lower profit than a company with shrinking revenues and a good profit margin.
Because shrinking revenue means that the product has a questionable future.
Economics is all about growth, cod makes a bunch of money but I wouldn't advice anyone investing because it's going down and down, as opposed to an IP that doesn't make as much as cod but at least shows growth
