I blame consumers. People were ok in paying Live, so there wasn't a single reason why Sony, and now Ninty, wouldn't do the same. People went as far as saying that Live was better because it was paid. My PSN didn't became miraculously better after the paywall, I would say the free game selection became worse.

Uh, how do you think Sony has been able to finance the expansion of the service as well as features that would likely never had materialized without the extra capital?
