It's a solid commercial. Regardless of what we about it, though, I think it's apparent that this is a chance for Nintendo to get the word out there for the Switch beyond showcasing hands on appearances at conventions or doing interviews for the gaming media. They are showcasing the Switch in an ad that will be broadcasted to hundreds of millions of people. That's huge. It's probably a little more impactful than having Mario be part of the hand off in the closing ceremonies of the Olympics last year, to an ovation from what I heard in the video (which btw is also seen by millions). This isn't what we saw in the Wii U era. Heck there are probably a lot of people out there who don't know that the Wii U even exists or are confused on what it does. That was part of its failure and maybe partly to blame for the apprent decline of the Nintendo fan base. I mean I can't imagine Pokemon Sun and Moon selling the way they are right now if it weren't for the promotional push by GF and Nintendo along with the phenomenon that was Pokemon Go (which is still generating money mind you). So overall, this can bode well for Nintendo as long as they are able to be more efficient in releasing content over the course of the year.
