my ultimate prediction / hope for Gen VII goes something like this-
Pokemon Sun & Moon - the first games in the generation and the introduction to the Alola region. but they leave out a lot of things almost to the point where the story feels incomplete. What happened to Lillie after she went to Kanto? and what about Lusamine? What about all the gyms that are being built and the empty spaces littered all over the Alola region? GameFreak is known for leaving behind small details that never get explained such as the various ghost characters that have appeared since Gen IV, but these are major story arcs that they have to work. So we will definitely see a sequel.
Pokemon Sun 2 & Moon 2 - these games pick up exactly 2 years after the events of Sun and Moon. It just seems like 2 years is the basis for sequel games. Gold and Silver were two years after Red and Blue. Black 2 and White 2 were sequels that again came two years after the previous events. AND they introduced new gyms, new characters, and entire new cities. Putting that in perspective, a new pokemon league on top of a mostly unchanged region isnt too much to handle. The story itself will focus on Lillie returning to Alola and restarting the Aether foundation. All other methods of curing Lusamine have failed, leaving her with only one other option. She has to go back to Ultra Space. but thats just a theory.
Pokemon Temporal Diamond & Celestial Pearl - having these remade just feels like a perfect match considering the similarities to Sun and Moon. the Distortion World mirrors Ultra Space, both have huge dome arena for pokemon competitions. the Sinnoh region is even famous for performers and contests, and Gen VI has starters based off of different types of performers. also, it would be great to experience the region that made Bidoof famous as an HM slave without HMs at all
