I've played all of them, so please tell me just how much Mario Karts 64 is different from Mario Kart 8. I'm hoping to see 18 years of improvements and innovation...

Clasping at straws is thinking games are the same as long as the names match! People didn't take Madden on the PS2 over the Xbox 360 or PS3, even though the former had a much larger user base:

Do your research before making baseless claims.

If you've played all Mario Karts, could you just tell me how they excactly are the same? You obviously have a kart, drive on a track and there's Mario in it. But you have also to keep in mind that you yourself claim at the same time that Call of Duty have innovated/changed during the years (more than Mario Kart, as I take it) and say that same IP doesn't make it a same game. There's a lot obvious flaws with your logic, but maybe we'll get to them later.

Damn. Well, 09 was already pretty late for PS2 and Madden isn't that popular around here, as people were picking up the PS2 version of the game from the bargain bin.

Same characters, same weapons, same  gameplay with very little difference - drift, collect randomised weapons, even the same CC classes:

Call of Duty 1 to 4 and Infinite Warfare are not recognisable other than being in the same genre. Do you realise that CoD 1 had health packs?

Yep, the Wii 3rd party support isn't as strong as is made out to be when you take a closer look at the actual games.
