Of course windows is the most popular OS but when Microsoft couldve been saving PC gaming at its lowest point in the early 2000's, Steam took over. Helps when you are the default OS coming out of the box for the majority of the market. Steam is just too established for competition between Steam and Microsoft to be fair when it comes to the majority of the games circulating. Steam is the prominent gaming central point on PC. Microsoft is not percieved to be the best on any platform in the PC realm nor the console realm and yet are still struggling to figure out whether they want console supremacy or PC supremacy.
