Is Nintendo's online service almost certain to cost $50 a year?

I think 30 dollars is a fair price, 2.5 dollars per month that is. 40 isn't that comfortable but still alright.
We don't know enough about it, from the phone app being optional to if we keep the monthly VC. It's too early to judge.
