What they can do is Transition, keep the strong ties with the USA, but form strong ties to other nations as a counter, if the USA declines or tries to push you around you can leverage the ties you have with other nations as leverage, remember the world is bigger than the USA. |
1. Sure, the problem is their economies produces generally the same stuff, are on the same level and there is simply no domestic capital to push thing forward.
Of course increase and diversify urs trade ties is absolute mandatory today and everybody is doing it. The problem is - if u are weaker than others, u see only blows from everywhere and there is no one to blame. USA's foreign investement in Mexico is over 30%, 2nd is China. Brazil ? Not in top 10.
2. Of course, USA sphere of influnce is faliing big time and - we in Eastern Europe believe this at least - this is the true reason that Trump got elected. USA want to bring good ol' time back.
3. Sadly, they are close to nothing if we talk about this. How can a country that is that big simply cant deal with its drug dealers, etc ? How many womans are simply kidnapped in Juarez and nobody can fix it ?
Same problem plagued India for decades ( divided society, ancient laws weak goverment ) etc, and that's why everybody is talking about China, not India.
Moreover, they are - just like Canada - overshadowed by USA. With it's military and economic power, USA simply can " u sign here what we wrote there " politics..
