I think the only way Sony sells it's Playstation division(s) is if they're being parted out. It's easily what gives the most recognition in recent years. Microsoft doesn't give a fuck, they were only ever in it to try to sell more PCs. They've apparently lost billions over the years on the Xbox brand (but may have recouped most of that back in recent years). Nintendo? It's all Nintendo is really. They won't sell off their video game operations ever, but you might see them pivot away from making consoles.

Well, Sony definitely will be "parted out" if they don't turn around many of their other businesses.  They're already pretty well separated into divisions that operate independently.  Stripping PS out of one isn't too far fetched.

MS....well, a few years ago I would have said for sure that they were positioning Xbox for sale.  They completely eliminated any mention of MS in any marketing, and it was never clear how XB fit into their portfolio.  But, now that they're basically making it a Windows machine, and they've expanded into hardware with the Surface, I don't have a clue as to what they're planning.

Ninty....I think it is very likely that they'll exit the hardware business in the next several years.  I don't know how well they could separate the hardware business from the software, toys, cards, theme parks, and whatever else they're into.  But, if they can do it, I'm sure they would entertain a sale as opposed to just shutterting the hardware department.  There's no obvious buyer that I can think of.  But, there are a bunch of Chinese companies gobbling up things.  I could also see Samsung or Apple, though the latter doesn't generally buy companies in need of a turnaround.

Anyway, back to the OP....  I'm not betting on a sale from any of them.  But, I wouldn't be shocked if something happened.

You do realize Sony's been operating in the green for awhile now, right? This isn't the doom and gloom years of the PS3 era. And they definitely aren't getting rid of the PS HW until consoles actually show signs of stopping. And so far this gen, they haven't. I doubt they will next gen, either. Now, if we get to a point where the top console only sells 20M-30M, they're definitely going to be looking at an out from the market.
