My biggest worry is that Android tablets are so powerful nowadays. Could someone swoop in and basically make the same thing except with the Google Play Store? Because that would kill the Switch.

Hell, make a controller mod for my Moto Z Force.
*I know some devices can use a controller. I'm taking about using one without any extra effort on the consumers part*

We don't know how powerful the hardware in the Switch is, if it used an underclocked X1 it would be around the power of the Pixel C but weaker than the iPad Pro 12".

If it used something along the lines of the P1 however it would beat the iPad and Android tablets for another year or two probably, and it would be sub-par with the Smach Z which does a 100 gflops more than the P1, which is upgradeable, has Windows, 6 hour battery life and 1080p for 50 more dollars, but you're not getting the exclusives and form factor that you are getting with the Switch.

Besides, even if nVidia supplied hardware for an Android tablet (which they wouldn't with the Switch) that would be more powerful or sub-par with the Switch all you'd be getting is mobile games, and unstable emulators for consoles, and an outdated version of Android if they don't update it too. This wouldn't kill the Switch at all, and as long as it has a web browser that's enough multimedia, if video streaming service sites work that is, you could also run Google Docs or Office Online, or even Kindle Web.

Also, tablets are also very much a market in decline, fewer and fewer are being released, you have one or two each year from a notable manufacturer and you only hear about it once or twice, Apple has the iPad though those are quite expensive, and you have the Chinese Windows tablet market which are Atom rehashes, though they're starting to shift to using the newest Celerons and Core Ms. If Switch has a good enough browser and a steady supply of games not only is it the most powerful handheld but a pretty adequate multimedia tablet that doubles as a streaming box and has console quality games.
