I really dislike when existing franchises are used to show off the latest gimmick in an effort to force people to embrace it. "You say you're not interested in our new gimmick? How dare you, we'll stuff it into your favorite game series so you'll have no choice!" That's what new IP are for.

I remember getting so pissed off with Killzone 3 because you had to waggle the bloody controller and turn it like a wheel in certain places. That's not the reason I'm playing a first person shooter. Annoying me with forced usage of your gimmick is NOT endearing that gimmick to me, it's making me hate it more.

As for Skyward Sword, it's probably the reason I didn't buy a Wii. I was on the edge of buying one already because of some of the Japanese RPGs it (finally) got. All it really needed was Zelda to tip the scales. Then I watched some videos of Skyward Sword, including from a Nintendo fanboy reporter, and I was out. I remember watching him trying to play it at E3 and how confused he looked, like he was trying to force himself to like it despite clearly not enjoying the experience. I'm not saying the game wasn't good but my own interest evaporated quickly.

Off topic. What killed that game for me was the '"on rail" segments on the hardest difficulty. I found it pretty good on normal mode. On the hardest difficulty, it was on pace to be an all-time FPS fav. Then the on rails shit started. Skill is required, but more than than that, a level of luck to pick lottery tickets is needed. It's doable, but I bailed on my hardest playthrough after about 6 attempts gunning from the truck. After my hypothesis was corroborated by several players, I bailed. With conviction. On topic, I never found the motion controls in KZ3 obtrusive.
