That would be consistent with what we know. The people the most interested in the Switch are the usual Nintendo fans. Nintendo fans are not kids anymore, it's the people who grew up with Nintendo and are now in their 20s or 30s. Nintendo needs to interest a new demographic, especially kids, but they're having trouble with it. 

He also said online shopping is a big thing in japan as well. 

As for what you said, it could be more than that as well. Nintendo appears to be marketing towards millennials as shown in their initial teaser. But this is a sample for now so, as usual, we don't know the full picture. We didn't know Animal Crossing was that popular among women (Japan at least) until Nintendo brought it up.
