The point is that sold out stock at launch means nothing. PS4 for example was hardly available even months after release. Let's see how the Switch fares before we're making wild claims of a runawayy success.

I agree that we need to wait a few months before stating that. But there are both people praising the Switch for selling this "well", and those downplaying it no matter what. In both cases, people should wait until the Switch has had more time on the market before concluding anything.

We don't know overall stock levels for Japan, let alone individual outlet stock numbers, but selling out isn't much of an indicator for Japan, for example the psvr there was similarly gone in minutes and hasn't been in stock since, some major outlets have even taken the console off of their pages to reduce the number of calls asking when stock will be available, but sales overall of the psvr have been relatively tiny in Japan, largely due to the low stock numbers and the seemingly non-existant resupply numbers.

 

We won't know until Nintendo releases some solid numbers, really.
