I was talking about the Pokemon generations, not console generations. Sorry for not being clear on that. Each Pokemon game with a brand new region starts a new gen in Pokemon. However there is always at least two games in every generation. And all games in a single generation belong to the same handheld. EG. Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen, and Emerald are the entirety of gen 3, and all of them came out on GBA and no other console
