What does steam have to do with anything. Less emphasis on AAA and more buying indies please. I buy indies on steam, which to me is the best way to play indies, while AAA titles are for consoles because why buy consoles if not for the AAA. And I'm not hating, simply telling you how I feel about them. It's a past time. I will continue to buy AAA because that's what I do. I play them for a good 4-5 hrs then I'm bored. And I didn't say graphics was terrible, just that it's a gimmick as any other selling point of a game. As for good indies, or games in general, name one that's going to give me the same feeling I've gotten when I first played Super Mario Bros., or OOT(my first Zelda), or Metal Gear, or even Final fantasy 7. Not hating on anything, simply asking for an innovative experience that has the power to immerse me as when I played those games for the first time. Just asking for innovation that gets my blood going. As for Nintendo, that's just an example of innovation of recently. Nintendo almighty is just something you tacked on. BTW, you get offensive really quick. |
There is no such thing that will immerse you the same way that old games did because you were younger then. Retro games try to capture this feeling but of course will never be as good as your first experiences.
If you like platformers, look at Owlboy or Shantae. For JRPGs try I am Setsuna or World of Final Fantasy. For first person games I recommend Valley or the Stanley Parable or Beginner's Guide or Gone Home. You can play Stardew Valley for that Harvest Moon itch or even Slime Rancher. There is soon gonna be a new Nier for your nostalgic action needs. There are many more but in genres I don't really care about.
And of course there is always the option to just play old games you haven't before. I currently play Gothic 2 which looks and plays like shit because the developers cared more about building a great world and story. That's what you want right? Because apparently good graphics is what makes games bad.
