A lot of people talked about that: Nintendo can't let the 3DS die immediately, they have to be sure that the Switch is viable before killing the alternative. And there is still a question mark about the future of the 3DS: will we see a full handheld successor?
It was obvious that they will still support their handheld. We don't know yet if they will stop doing that, and when. But new games announcements for the 3DS isn't a surprise anyway.
