With about 2 months of sales under its belt, the PS4 pro has been tracking around 20% of total PS4 sales since its launch. More or less.
Question is, is this an indication of how sales for the Scorpio will be or is it even worse than that"
Here are som things to consider
These upgraded consoles are still the exacty same platform. They aren;t getting an exclusive library of games but instead just offering an enhanced experince on the existing games. And an experience that is in part mostly dpendent on the purchase of a 4k TV.
What we have seen with the PS4pro sales is a SKU that cost at least $150 more than its less powerful sibling. It also came without any of the bundles the PS4s had and none of the deals.
Now the Scorpio will come at a time when the PS4s and the XB1s could cost as little as $199 (MS may not want this but I expect sony to drop the price of the PS4s to $199 and the PS4pro to $299 around the time the scorpio comes). If the scorpio launches at $399, that will mean it will be at least $200 more expensive the the other consoles it shares its library with.
Or is the promise of 4k gaming important enough to make all of the above moot?
