Although both the Wii and the Wii U had no die shrinks, isn't that so? I don't think Nintendo consoles ever did die shrinks, to be fair, except probably for the new SNES model. One would expect the New 3DS to be so as well, but it had a larger battery and a shorter life, so yeah, I don't think there was one here, even accounting for the extra juice of the new version.

I think your right. Even the wii mini has the standard wii chipset they just disabled lots of features in the firmware and didn't fit the additional hardware requried like the wifi chip etc.
