Um, Japan is already going crazy about this. There were reported lines closing by like 10 am because they were so full. And really, as long as this game does what Splatoon 1 did in Japan, its worth it for Nintendo. The Japanese love barely better versions and rebuying things; the entire Monster Hunter, Yokai Watch, and Pokemon series are BUILT upon this concept.
That being said, if it includes a new story mode and there are enough new features with the improved online, I will rebuy.
