No, it makes sense to compare the prices as the PS4 and XB1 are NOW. They've gone down in price due to cost cutting from increased chip yields, die shrinks as all hardware does. Forget that though, the Switch hardware is a joke, it's been made to cut costs to the maximum at the expense of performance. The PS4 and moreso the XB1 are hardly power houses on the GPU front, the Switch is an abomination and a very bad joke on that front. There comes a point of diminishing returns when you cut costs this much. They could have spent just a tiny bit more on the hardware and had a hell of a lot more performance. But no, Nintendo have effectively churned out something more weedy than a budget smartphone. |
No, I still don't agree it's a fair comparison. Sure, they're gone down in price after 2-3 years of being in the market, but they did start off the same as the Switch, being quite expensive and with no games, and yet people were willing to buy those consoles. I don't see why people wouldn't do the same here. With some very appealing games coming to the Switch this year, as well as the selling point of being able to take it anywhere with you, I think people will be willing to buy it. And the Switch will drop in price with time, as well as get a bundled game. No worries.
