You're grasping with those last 3.

Splatoon 2 is a sequel to a highly popular Wii U game that can and probably will reach to people who didn't own one.  It didn't just sell the way it did because it was on Wii U.

Xenoblade 2 is a sequel to the Wii game, not the Wii U one, so what are you even talking about there?  Again, there's no direct connection to the Wii U.

Last one, what?  This one seems like you just added it so it looked like your list would be more complete.  I agree with the first two you put, at least.  Those are games that will hinder the system's ability due to the nature of the game.

edit: I'm not saying these are games that will definitely make the system do well, but they are bad examples of why the Switch will be like the Wii U.

Why will Splatoon 2 be much more appealing than Splatoon 1?  People that loved the game will continue to love it.  People that never played it have no reference other than great critical acclaim, but Splatoon already has great critical acclaim.

Should have said Xenoblade Chronicles X on Wii U.

Your edit is a bit self contradictory.  Wii U had 3D World / MK8 / Splatoon / XC2.  Switch doesn't (yet) have a set of games that will grow the appeal over what Wii U had.

I think I misunderstood what you were trying to say, but I still disagree slightly.

I'm not saying Splatoon 2 will be much more appealing than the first one.  I was just trying to say that it's not necessarily going to be the same people who bought it on the Wii U who will on the Switch.

My argument isn't that these games will bring in a wider audience than the WIi U by some noticeable amount, but what I AM saying is that Splatoon for the Wii U probably suffered by being on the Wii U while on the Switch that may not necessarily be the case.  The audience who buy the games might be larger for Splatoon 2 than the Wii U.

For Xenoblade Chronicles X, a lot of fans of the original probably didn't feel X was close enough to the original to buy a Wii U or the game.  I don't know this, but I have played the original and do not own X, so I can say that the appeal should be at least closer to those who bought it on Wii than Wii U, given Xenoblade 2 is clearly a proper sequel.

For Super Mario Odyssey, it definitely has a much larger appeal than 3D World did by virtue of the fact that it's a sandbox mario vs a 3D platformer.  That's something the Wii U lacked and a LOT of people (I know for a fact) prefer this one over the Wii U one.  I wont say it will sell more, but the kind of audience it appeals to is larger just by concept alone.

Wii U and Switch's appeal isn't solely on their games, it's on hardware as well.  This much is obvious if you look at how the Wii sold, and PS4 as well.  Neither one of those systems had the games starting off to explain their sales.
