If you really want games, you should buy them anyway. Renting games is always going to be renting games, and paying for something basic as online multiplayer is going to suck regardless of the benefits that are thrown in. If the benefits were truly great, then such an online service would be viable without locking online multiplayer away.

I agree; paying for online sucks - regardless of who is offering the service. I'm pretty sure, though, that a lot of people will end up getting old games they've never heard of with the Switch. Imagine a 20 year old paying for online, and all he gets is some old shitty games. To him they'll be old, they'll look and sound old, he's never heard of any of those games. "Balloon fight? Wtf!? Super Mario 2? Wtf, this doesn't look like NSMBU - at all." He probably won't be all that excited for these old games, just like people might not be interested in some crappy indie games. And from his POV, these old games will be missing features he's used to have.

fact still remains, for now, Sony and MS is offering a better online service from what we can piece together about Nintendo's offerings. What Nintendo could, and should do, is offering a sort of Netflix-kind of service with their online service; pay $60 a year and get access to 100's of old games (S/NES era) as long as you pay for the service. That way, they'll get people who doesn't even play online to subscribe to this service.

But MS and Sony still isn't overpricing their products as much as Nintendo is. I can agree that ALL of these accessorories probably is a little overpriced, but Nintendo is the worst offender in this case. And my points of the paid online still stands.

But you can't play all local co-op games that way (at least I don't think you can). I'm not even sure you can play 4 players on the same Switch? That argument only applies to certain games; what about the games when you need two analouge sticks to play? Then we're right back at the start of the argument. But you did bring up a good point there, I gotta admit. I'll try to see them as individual controllers instead of only half a controller - for my own happiness sake. But your last argument doesn't really hold up; that's NOT the equivalents of buying a second PS/XB, since in that case you could have two people playing two different kind of games, at the same time. That's just not the same thing as having two docking station, since it's still only you who can play games, and not someone else as well. Thinking like that, I have to pay $530 for that specific set up AND a game. Adding $70 I could get TWO PS4's with TWO games. I just don't think these accessories justify their high price.

Sony launched a VR headset for $400 which, going by general consensus, doesn't have a single must-play game yet. That's the textbook example for an overpriced gaming item. Microsoft's Kinect (both versions) doesn't fare much better.

Agreed. I think that VR will take a long time to really take off. But both of those accessories are secondery experiences, you buy VR or Kinect to experience something new, something different - it's not like buying a second controller to experience your main experience. Wow, much great wording. Such synonyms.

You are correct that not all multiplayer games can be played with a single Joy-con, but for most of Nintendo's staples it holds true. Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Mario Party, Mario platformers. Splatoon is the notable exception of the biggest sellers, but it is the only one.

Does Splatoon have local co-op? Cause that would be awesome :D The probability of there coming more is pretty high though. Well, that kinda depends on 3rd party support as well I guess, so who knows.

You brought up the docking station. I don't know why you would feel forced to buy one anyway. Europeans, unlike Americans, would just unplug a system and carry it to a different room. Or be satisfied with the downclocked version of a game; after all, Switch can easily be played in any room of your house.

It only show cases how Nintendo is nickel-and-diming us, hence the name of the thread. You brought up the PS4/XB1. I think. I'm getting drunk. I dunno.
