I see logic doesn't exist in these forums, considering it doesn't take much thinking to realize that the 3ds level of software minimum that the switch will receive will mean success. Couple that with far more positive reception from consumers and developers, and strong titles being showcased.

The Switch is not operating as a 3DS but a hybrid, which will most likely fashion itself to play console games on the go. It wont have the 3DS appeal nor the games. The Switch is a great console, but the launch price, the accessory prices and more troubling info got in the way of what was a pretty solid piece of tech. Nintendo has to nail their support from third party or else.

I was saying the Switch will receive at minimum the support the 3ds (And Wii U) received because Nintendo's console and handheld software divisions are now streamlined, and together working on one system. Also, I'm sure Nintendo will want to release a 2D Zelda, Mario, etc. because those types of games have appeal all on their own. I get that Smash, Kart and most games will get the 3D high resolution approach from now on, but the line is being blurred because we have the option to use it as a handheld and it can receive games that look like they belong on handheld, but like I said the lines are too blurred, which is why it should be called a hybrid as you stated.

I feel if third party support can be achieved through creative releases (i.e. Rabbids-Mario crossover, titles that appeal more to Nintendo's userbase), then that would be enough to carry the switch. I personally believe the streamlining/having all Nintendo releases on one console will ensure the Switch succeeds. I thought the launch price was fine, considering it's only availlable as one sku. The joycons have so much tech in them so I'm not surprised at their price, but the dock is another story.
