Why on earth are people expecting 20+ games at launch of the Switch? What is wrong with a handful games that show the many play styles and how much fun you can have with this system?

How many launch games would you be able to buy, anyway?  Look at the Wii U's launch, there were plenty of 3rd party games sitting on the shelves and waiting to be bought, but guess what? Players bought NSMBU and Nintendoland instead because that's typically the games you buy to get accomodated with a new Nintendo console.

Let's see.

When I imported the PSP months before EU launch, I also bought Gretzky NHL (pack-in), Ridge Racer, WipeOut Pure, Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Untold Legends and a few UMD-movies. The PSP had a good selection of titles at US and EU launch.

When I bought the Xbox 360 at launch day, I also bought Kameo: Elements of Power, Project Gotham Racing 3, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Perfect Dark Zero and Peter Jackson's King Kong; Dead or Alive 4 followed soon. Call of Duty 2, Gun, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Quake 4 were also great launch titles, but I got these for PC. The Xbox 360 had the best launch game selection of a home console ever!

When I bought the Wii at launch day, I also bought Wii Sports (pack-in), Wii Play (pack-in), The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Rayman Raving Rabbids; Excite Truck followed a few months later.

The PS3 hadn't enough good titles (for me) at launch, so I waited a few months. I would have waited until its first holiday (Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted and Heavenly Sword), but I got an offer for the PS3 hardware I couldn't refuse (best phone contract ever!) before that. So when I got the PS3, I also bought MotorStorm, Resistance, PSN-Lemmings and some compatible PS2-games (f.e. God of War 2 and MGS3: Subsistance).

The 3DS launch game library was very disappointing to me, not one game appealed to me. So I waited.... and waited... until the 3DS-XL-launch, which fixed a lot of the first 3DS's flaws. When I bought the 3DS XL at its launch day, I only bought Super Mario 3D Land. New Super Mario Bros 2 and Professor Layton 5 followed a few months later. Ocarina of Time 3D and Mario Kart 7 were also very good first-year-titles, but I bought them much later.

When I bought the PS Vita at launch,  I also bought Rayman Origins, WipeOut 2048, Ridge Racer, Everybody's Golf, Escape Plan, MotorStorm RC, Mutant Blob Attack, Super Stardust Delta; I also won Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Little Deviants and Modnation Racers: Road Trip a week before launch and rented Lumines: Electronic Symphony, Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus and Unit 13 soon after launch. The PS Vita had the best launch game selection of a handheld console ever!

The Wii U hadn't enough good titles (for me) at launch, so I waited over a year. When I bought it, I also bought Nintendo Land (pack-in), Super Mario 3D World, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario/Luigi Bros. U and Zombi U; Mario Kart 8 + a free game (The Wind Waker HD) followed soon.

When I bought the PS4 at launch day, almost all games that interested me were delayed. :( So I sold it through with a nice profit. I would have canceled my order, but then I also would have lost my DriveClub pre-order for €20. When I bought my second PS4 three months later, I also bought Killzone: Shadow Fall (pack-in), Resogun and got a lot of nice small titles via Cross-Buy and PS+ until then; inFamous: Second Son followed soon.

The Xbox One hadn't enough good titles (for me) at launch, so I waited over a year. When I bought it, I also bought Sunset Overdrive, Halo: Master Chief Collection + ODST, Rare Replay and rented Forza Horizon 2. I would have also bought Ryse and Dead Rising 3, but I already bought them for PC. Forza 5 was also a great launch title, but I got it much later.

The only announced Switch-games in the launch window, that interest me, are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (which I can get for my Wii U), Rime (which I will get for PS4 or PC) and Lego City Undercover (which I will get for PC). So I will at least wait for the release of Super Mario Odyssey, perhaps even longer.
