That we haven't seen them already probably means they'll be reserved to limited specific uses in a few levels again, so they're more gimmick than power-up. There was no information of any kind on the screen like life and coin count either, so they just haven't finished it yet or just don't show it like trailers often do. Plus we saw some heart thing in the Switch reveal trailer which probably has something to do with a health bar.
