Only thing I can see is that people don't like giving big companies more money than they think they deserve. It's like "hey so-and-so why don't you make all these games that sell like shit so that I can be happy". It's a great way to gauge interest in a title though and know exactly a locked in amount of sales. I also think that companies with legacy games/consoles should have a special ordering system where you could custom order old consoles/games to be special made and sold to you, some people would pay tons of money if they could get an official repro system/game from companies like Nintendo and Sega.
