King of Queens is actually surprisingly clever. It's based on the same old Honeymooners paradigm, but the situations are pretty unique. You have some pretty offbeat stuff like Carrie trying to control Doug's masturbation fantasies, Spence two timing Adam West with Lou Ferigno, or a trip to stop a wedding in Vegas that features one of the best endings of any sitcom.
Big Bang Theory is just dumb. It's a generic sitcom with some science words thrown in. Despite the fact that it's about nerds, there's really nothing smart about it. Name dropping Stephen Hawking doesn't make for a smart show.
King of Queens is a smart show about dumb people. Big Bang Theory is a dumb show about smart people.
