Yeah I could only think of 8th gen because that's the only gen I've bought at launch. All three were not worth it. 3DS was another one I felt was super dry at launch. 

The only console I have ever purchased at launch was the PS4, and that was mainly because I had never done it before and wanted to at least once in my lifetime. Now that I have fulfilled that, I don't really feel the need to buy another console at launch.
