I didn't mean "Oh damn cards go up to 256 GB now?" lol I just meant that did we know Nintendo allowed 256 GB cards before, or did they ever announce a limit or something. 

ah, and yea I didn't excpect it to be so high.

I mean the 3DS limits it to like 32gb or something small.

Though 32 gb has been more than enough for me on that system. 100% digital and still have plenty of space.
