I wasn't talking about Xenoblade 2 though, that will not be released until 2018 here for sure.
Well as a WiiU owner by the time December comes I will have the option to purchase Splatoon 2, Mario Oddissey, Skyrim on the go, ARMS, Dragon Quest Heroes I&II, Rime and maybe even DQXI if we are lucky, I may also feel interested on MK8 deluxe since it will come with a bunch of new stuff and Mario Kart on the go is pretty cool, having all those options and knowing that next year games like Xenoblade 2, Shin Megami Tensei V, Pokemon Stars, the new Square Enix rpg, Fire Emblem Warriors and probably the New Retro Game (that will probably be presented on the E3) and maybe even Pikmin 4 are coming, yeah I can feel already pretty safe buying it.
The 3DS situation could totally happen, I think they want to follow that same strategy if things go wrong to have it cheaper on holydays and save the ship before is too late, but I also think they won't need to do it.

Of those titles I can see Splatoon 2 and Mario being big hits (dragon quest 11 aswell if its out this year). Those other titles you mentioned are also good editions if you are a single console owner so I can see your point. Since I didn't originally mention if you are a multi console owner we wont go into that since i guess that's where most my issues lie.

Mario Kart deluxe and BoTW will definitely be a huge hit, since nobody bought a WiiU it doesnt matter if they are also there and I suspect many WiiU owners will buy the Switch version of BoTW instead, just as happened with TP in GC. Is not a matter of being a one console owner, I can get Skyim without a Switch (in fact I have it) but I cannot get a portable Skyrim anywhere else, so thats very appealing, same with DQXI except in that case the game is not releasing on PC so Switch would be my only option anyways.
