This is certainly good for Nintendo, the cash injection from just putting online behind a paywall will be a big boost. PSN alone makes more money than all of Nintendo http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2016-04-28-sonys-psn-is-making-more-money-than-all-of-nintendo
The bad side for Nintendo is to sell the paywall, can they do it? I have Splatoon 2 in mind, but it's no CoD and BF1. I expect the impact of online to be once again small with Nintendo.
