I never paid for online, I own a ps4 but I don't have PS+ I feel like its a scam since I can play games for free on my pc. I did purchase a small few day trial for some discounts at certain points.
However, its a bad thing but theres no getting rid of it now, maybe microsoft will do it with their first party titles that have cross play, but thats the only scenario I see, the online profits are so big from subscriptions :(
