Then you mistaken Microsofts intentions. Microsoft has always wanted to have a list war with Sony since they know their first party is great. Microsoft wants to boast the same things. They want to be able to say whatever Sony does, we can do it better. This is why Spencer has always alluded to first party being a problem at Microsoft.
Third party is needed to have a console run, but exclusives differentiate the brand and allow the console developer to sell their brand on their own identity.
