Im guessing Nintendo might have a 3DS type successor waiting in the wings in case Switch doesn't fly off the shelves. Its quite a dicey move from Nintendo when you think about it. Their console reputation cant get any lower, but if Switch is a disaster it could also harm its handheld reputation. I wonder how many Switches would have to be sold for Nintendo not to make another dedicated handheld. |
It's launching mid gen. But as the 3DS is already claiming for a sucessor, I guess the time is right. They are probably hoping for at least 3DS level sales and that would be pretty great,
