Given MCV reported that NX's first year titles would include Zelda, Mario and a Game Freak developed Pokemon several months before the Eurogamer report (even before Switch was properly announced), and given this little detail, I think Stars makes increasing sense as a Switch title. I wasn't expecting a January announcement for it, given it would cut some of the legs out from under Sun/Moon (an announcement on Friday means I for one won't buy Sun/Moon), but it would give Nintendo a huge title for later in the year.
The angle in that advertising is also quite interesting. "Skyrim on the go, Pokemon at home" is clearly a way of targeting a more mainstream market than the Nintendo core audience, and an easy way of saying "best of both worlds" on one system as the advertising angle.
