It seem's strange for Sony to drop it. Where did the story come from that it was on development hell?

Sony dropped them because the game wasn't nearly as complete as they'd been lead to believe. 'Development hell' is my take on it but how else would we describe it? Unless we assume Sony were 'conned' (which isn't out of the question), I see no other way of putting it without sounding unkind. That wasn't long ago though and yet here we are with what appears to be a large slice of gameplay.

Rime will release this May, the game was announced in 2013. That's over 4 years of development (Rime developer said the reveal trailer was in-game footage so it had been in development some time before reveal). Maybe Sony wanted to fund a 2 years project, extended it 3 but when it became clear that it was going to miss that they weren't prepared to fund it any longer. They will have projections how much the game will bring in through revenue and developments costs will have to be kept in check.

If the game was supposed to release in 2015 and it releases in 2017 then you can probably consider that in development hell. Plus do weknow if the game is near completetion? We've seen 30 mins of gameplay and trailers before that were taken from those 30 minutes I think. Will it still launch in May?
