Re-read what I said again... I said that I liked the $250 price but it is above what I would call the impluse buy category. Remember when the 3ds launched at $250 and Nintendo lowered it to $150sh? $150 is what I would call impluse buy where a random person that is looking for something to get his kid for his birthday wouldn't have to think too hard when deciding what to buy. And that is The New 3ds XL which sells for $199. Orignal 3ds XL, Original 3ds, new 3ds and 2ds all sell for less... Also never did I say that $250 was an unreasonable price for what you are getting nor did I ever mention it won't sell. The fact that I said that I liked the price and that I am pre-ordering 2 of them should have told you what I thought of the price... |
What counters your argument is that the Wii was that exact price and was an impulse buy, 3DS had other problems than it's price with consumer confusion and an early drought being the main factors, the actual price cut didn't do anything to change the situation it was the consistent arrival of software and a change in marketing that did that.
PSP even sold at that price for the basic pack as well it is very well with in impulse buy range, kids want the latest thing out which is going to be the Switch so a random person is going to opt for that in the long run because one their kid most likely already has a 3DS at this point and two Switch is no doubt going to phase 3DS out.
