Make it Nintendo Infinity and it would be a bit. Nintendo sandboxes with the classic franchises to decorate with? A full single player campaign? I didn't see anything wrong with Infinity at 3.0. The combat was vastly improved and still accessible and there was a lot of interesting things to be done creatively. There is a huge hole in the market with Infinity bowing out (remember 3.0 and 3.0 figs were big sellers for Disney). Skylanders has diminishing returns but is growing in other formats and other merchandise. Nintendo already crossed that bridge. They should just be the next evolution of Infinity.
