SNES, great console with great games. Objectively looking at it, as much as that's actually possible, it's probably the greatest system ever released. It introduced me to my favorite franchise of all time, but my only access to the system was through my aunt, who didn't let us play on it for much. When I was young, I played more NES than SNES, and much more N64 afterwards, until re-investing time into it much, much later. The games that impacted me the most in those early days were;
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Super Mario Kart
When me and my cousins actually were allowed to play on my aunt's shiny SNES instead of the old NES, we played Yoshi's Island, Super Mario Kart or A Link to the Past. All three are classic, but two of them are now among my most favorite games of all time.
Yoshi's Island is the best 2D game ever made, as a kid, I was already totally invested in it's terrific art-design, gameplay and level-design. I appreciated it so much, that I never even heard the baby's cry. I never beat it in those early days though, both because I couldn't play it enough and because I simply wasn't good enough. Later, when a port was released on GameBoy Advance, I did complete it. Super Mario Kart was another we used to play. With my cousins we raced a lot, and it was fun, accessible and great to play in a party-setting like birthdays. It's successor would replace it in sentemental value though, but feeling had to start somewhere.
The biggest impact to me personally, by maybe any game ever made, however came from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. My aunt was very much into it, and I used to watch her play as often as I could. Occasionally, when I got to play, we'd use her file, and tried on Ganon. Failing miserably. For a long time, me and my cousin thought he was literally unbeatable. We'd also start new files, just to witness the rain at the start of the game over and over. I was in total awe, and it soon became my favorite game ever, for a time, even when it was much too complicated for my young self and I didn't understand a word of English. History was made though, and I wanted every other Zelda game since, after that.
