Just another instance of people taking a Nintendo quote, adding their own interpretation and running with it. If Nintendo called Switch a home console, then I could understand that some people feel that Nintendo is not being honest, but... gaming journalism and lacking reading comprehension.

And really, curl, you aren't the best one to ask what kind of device the Switch is. You called the Virtual Boy a handheld and still haven't apologized.

 

Well, to be fair, Reggie called the Switch a home console, not Nintendo. But isn't Reggie Nintendo?

And also...... Virtual Boy portable. It was self contained. You just needed a table to put it on.
