Those platforms sold well and still didn't get many good third party exclusives.

I can't speak for DS and 3DS, perhaps someone more familiar with their libraries can do so, but I thought Wii had plenty of good third party exclusives; Monster Hunter Tri, The Last Story, de Blob, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, the Goldeneye reboot... (Yeah, it was ported later, but it was originally exclusive)
